Cookie Notice
The cookies and storage OpenMap uses, and why.
The short version
- We use only the cookies OpenMap needs to work, such as keeping you signed in.
- No advertising cookies, and no cookies that track you across other sites.
- If we ever add an optional cookie, we’ll ask you first.
Cookies OpenMap needs
These are strictly necessary, so the law doesn’t require your consent for them. They are set only by OpenMap, on our own domain.
- Sign-in and session (named sb-… auth-token): keep you signed in, or in a guest session, and protect your account. They last until you sign out, and are refreshed while you use OpenMap.
- Business choice (openmap_v4_business): remembers which business you’re acting for, if you run one.
- Device security (openmap_device): a random token for this device, so we can tell you about a sign-in from a new device. We keep only a one-way code of it. It lasts up to 400 days.
- Keeping a guest’s work (om_guest_merge): for up to 30 minutes after you sign in, links what you did as a guest to your account.
- Sharing in (openmap_share, openmap_share_via): briefly hold something you shared into OpenMap from another app, until you keep or discard it.
Storage on your device
OpenMap also keeps a few things in your browser’s own storage so the app works smoothly, such as an unsent message, a remembered choice or what you were doing before you signed in. It stays on your device; you can clear it in your browser settings.
Optional cookies
We use no optional cookies unless you allow partner links (see below). A partner’s referral code travels in the page address, not a cookie. If we add an optional cookie (for example om_ref, to credit a partner for up to 30 days), we’ll update this notice and ask for your consent first, and we won’t set it if your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
Partner links (off unless you allow them)
Today, links to other companies are plain links and no partner cookie is involved. When tracked partner links are switched on they will stay off unless you choose “Allow”. If you do, some links go through OpenMap first and then an affiliate network (Awin, CJ, or Impact for Ticketmaster) so the other company can credit OpenMap with a commission. The network and the other company’s site may then set their own cookies, under their own notices (Awin, CJ, Impact), and the row says “Ad · We may earn a commission.” before the link.
Your choice is remembered in one preference cookie of ours, openmap_partner_links (up to 12 months), and “Not now” in openmap_partner_links_ask (90 days). You can change your choice at any time by clearing these cookies. See how OpenMap makes money and chooses results.
Other sites
Sites you open from OpenMap, and payment pages run by Stripe, set their own cookies under their own notices. When the agent browses for you in its private browser, any cookies those sites set stay in that browser, not on your device.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but if you block the ones OpenMap needs you won’t be able to sign in. See the Privacy Notice for how we use personal data.
