Partner terms
The rules for recommending OpenMap.
In short
- You must be 18 or over and based in the UK
- You contact businesses only in ways they’d expect, and say who you are
- You never ask for passwords or payment details
- You say you’re a partner whenever you recommend OpenMap in public
- Earnings from refunded or improper referrals are taken back
- There’s no guaranteed income. What you earn depends only on businesses that choose to pay for OpenMap.
1. Who can be a partner
Anyone aged 18 or over who lives in the UK, has an OpenMap account and is approved by our team. We can approve or decline any application, and we’ll tell you why if we decline.
2. What you agree to do
- Help businesses claim their company and set up their OpenMap listing and agent.
- Always say who you are and that you’re an independent OpenMap partner, not an OpenMap employee.
- Describe OpenMap honestly. Don’t promise results, savings or customers.
- Partners help businesses get set up. It isn’t financial, legal or tax advice, and partners never give it.
3. You are independent
You are an independent contractor, not an OpenMap employee, worker, agent or partner in law. You can’t make promises or agreements for OpenMap. You pay your own costs and are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance and any VAT on your earnings.
4. Contacting businesses
- Business-to-business contact only. Never contact members of the public about this.
- Follow UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Don’t send bulk or automated messages, don’t buy contact lists, and stop immediately when someone asks.
- Never ask for or handle a business’s passwords, codes, card or bank details.
- Don’t pretend to be OpenMap or use our name or logo in ads without our permission.
5. Promoting OpenMap honestly
- Say clearly that you’re an OpenMap partner and may earn from referrals whenever you recommend OpenMap in public (for example with “Ad” or “I earn from OpenMap referrals”), as advertising rules require.
- Never make misleading claims about OpenMap, its prices, features or results, and never use fake reviews or testimonials.
- Don’t bid on “OpenMap” or similar words in search ads, register look-alike domains or accounts, or refer yourself, your own businesses or people paid to sign up.
6. Referrals
Your link adds your code to an OpenMap page. The code stays with that person while they use OpenMap’s home, For businesses, Find your company, Pricing and Partners pages, so we don’t need a cookie to know they came from you. A new account created during that visit is linked to you once. If they come back later without your link, we can’t tell they came from you, and the account isn’t linked. Where it is linked, the first partner link wins and the link is never changed afterwards. People who already had an account aren’t linked. Your own accounts can’t be referred by you. We may remove referrals that break these terms, and we’ll tell you in your Inbox when we do.
7. Earnings
A business you referred is one set up by an account that signed up through your link. Someone you referred joining a business that was already on OpenMap doesn’t make it yours.
You earn 20% of the subscription a business you referred actually pays OpenMap (before tax), for 12 months from its first paid invoice. We only count payments we’ve received. The share of a payment that is later refunded or reversed is taken off before any payout. You don’t earn from businesses you own or run, or from other partners.
Payouts start when paid plans go live. Until then we track what you’ve earned, from day one. Before the first payout we’ll publish how payouts are made, the minimum amount, and what you need for tax. You’re responsible for your own tax.
There’s no guaranteed income. What you earn depends only on businesses that choose to pay for OpenMap.
8. Clawback and corrections
If a payment you earned from is refunded, reversed or charged back, or we find a referral broke these terms or was fraudulent, we take that share off your earnings. If it was already paid out, we may deduct it from future earnings, or ask you to repay it within 30 days. We may hold earnings while we look into suspected fraud or a breach. If you think we’ve got your earnings wrong, tell us within 60 days of them showing on your dashboard.
9. Your privacy and theirs
Your dashboard shows how many people signed up with your link (a number only) and the name and listing status of the businesses they set up. We never show you people’s names, emails or other personal details. See our privacy notice.
10. Responsibility
You’re responsible for what you say and do as a partner, and you will indemnify OpenMap against losses, claims, fines (where the law allows) and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms or the law, including data protection and marketing rules.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for lost profit or indirect loss, and our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the greater of £100 and the earnings we paid you in that time. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
11. Pausing or ending the arrangement
You can stop being a partner at any time by contacting us. We can pause or end a partnership if these terms are broken, and we’ll tell you why in your Inbox. While a partnership is paused or after it ends, new sign-ups and payments aren’t linked to you. Earnings already tracked for real payments before then stay on your record, except shares of payments that are refunded or come from referrals we remove.
12. Changes
We’ll tell you in your OpenMap Inbox at least 30 days before we change these terms. Changes never reduce earnings already tracked.
13. Law and the rest of our terms
These terms add to the Terms of Use and are the whole agreement about the partner programme. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts decide disputes. Contact the partners team at partners@openmap.ai.
