Community Guidelines
The rules for what people share on OpenMap. They are part of the Terms of Use.
The short version
- Be kind, honest and respectful.
- Public profiles, Moments and Adventures are for people 18 or over.
- Share only places that are safe and lawful to visit, and that you’re allowed to share.
- Reviews must be genuine, from real experience.
- Report anything that breaks these rules. We review reports and act.
1. For everyone
- Be respectful. No harassment, threats, hate, bullying or sexual content involving anyone who hasn’t agreed to it.
- Only post what you have the right to share. Ask before posting photos where other people can be recognised, and never post children’s images publicly.
- Don’t post other people’s private details, such as home addresses or phone numbers.
- No spam, scams or misleading content, and no hidden advertising.
2. Moments and public profiles
Profiles are private by default. You must be 18 or over to make yours public or publish a Moment. What you publish is public: anyone can see and share it. You can delete it at any time.
3. Adventures
- Use only public places people can reach safely and lawfully. Don’t send people onto private land, roads, railways, cliffs, water or anywhere dangerous.
- Don’t make challenges that encourage risky, illegal or antisocial behaviour, or that disturb residents or wildlife.
- If you take part, you do so at your own risk. Follow local laws and signs, and see Safety.
4. Reviews
Review only what you have used. Never write a review for your own business, a friend’s or a competitor’s, or in return for payment or a reward. Fake reviews are illegal. Keep reviews factual and fair; it’s fine to be critical.
5. Groups and polls
Groups are for people who know each other or agreed to plan together. Add only people who want to be there, and respect a request to leave. The person organising a plan is responsible for it.
6. Reporting and what we do
Use Report on a Moment, Adventure, review, profile or message, or email support@openmap.ai. Tell us what’s wrong and where. We review reports, prioritising illegal content and risks to safety. We may remove content, limit who sees it, or suspend accounts. If we act on your content, we’ll tell you why and how to ask us to look again.
If someone is in danger, call 999 first.
